Yamaha MT-09 India launch expected in 2025

The Yamaha MT-09 is expected to be launched in India in 2025. Word is that Yamaha India plans to announce the prices and opening of bookings around June or July. The bike will be sold across select Yamaha dealers in India, considering the delivery and after sales service that they can offer for a big bike. Once an order is placed, expect to wait at least a couple of months to get delivery of the MT-09.
Yamaha has been missing from the big bike segment in India for a few years. While the company pioneered the segment by legally importing and selling the YZF-R1 in the early 2000s, there is currently no presence in what is a highly evolved and demanding market.
The MT-09 is a street naked motorcycle and we recently got a chance to ride it in Japan. It is powered by an 890cc, inline-triple, CP3 engine that produces 117bhp and 93Nm. This motor is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or a Y-AMT unit.
The design of the bike is another highlight. From its robot-like headlight cowl to the large tank and the sleek tail section, the MT-09 looks aggressive and purposeful as a street-naked bike. Also, the bike looks rather fetching in the SP version.
As for the electronics, it has slide control, traction control, dual-channel ABS and three ride modes – Street, Rain and Sport. There are two customisable modes in addition to these three modes.
Once launched, the Yamaha MT-09 will go up against the Triumph Street Triple R and RS as well as the Kawasaki Z900.
